Six members of M&D’s team of creative professionals are advancing their careers within the firm.
Kevin Stick, promoted to Associate — Stick has worked with M&D since August 2014. He has enjoyed the opportunity to mentor junior staff and has gained experience on several high-profile commissions. His most memorable project is the Severn Intergenerational Center currently under construction in Maryland. He believes the exterior’s unique features in the brickwork and canopy show the thoughtful design approach that M&D is known for in the region.
Lisa Clemens, promoted to Associate Principal — Clemens joined M&D in January 2017 after owning and operating an interior design business. The word boredom is not in her vocabulary, and she appreciates that no two days are alike in her work. “I love being involved in a project from start to finish,” she says. “The constant variety of projects, collaboration with my talented co-workers, and Frank’s (Dittenhafer) ability to push me out of my comfort zone with just enough support has made M&D a good fit for me.” She has enjoyed contributing to such projects as The Forum Building in Harrisburg, the LaVale Library in western Maryland, and Penn State York’s Graham Center.
Rebecca McCormick, AIA, promoted to Associate Principal — McCormick has been with the firm for five years and has leaned into diverse responsibilities, from providing creative design to solving space puzzles and developing technical skills in construction. “M&D has a broad portfolio of work and there are always interesting projects to work on,” she says. “For me, I have had great opportunities to focus on historic preservation work.” McCormick’s most memorable project is the recent addition of a new gym and therapeutic pool at the Southern Branch YMCA in York County.
Cody Cummings, AIA, promoted to Associate — Cummings joined M&D in February 2019. He has enjoyed working on commissions that range from historic preservation to office renovations. “The work environment between co-workers makes our project efforts more enjoyable,” he says. “Having that support network is truly helpful and makes a world of difference to build upon your skillset and knowledge.” Cummings’ most memorable projects include The Forum Building, which was one of his first endeavors at the firm.
Peter Colello, AIA, promoted to Associate Principal — Colello has been with M&D since November 2017. He has seen projects through the schematic design phase, construction documents and served in construction administration, - and always has found great reward in the results. “M&D takes pride in their design work, and I try to practice similar principles in my day,” he says. “The firm has always helped tremendously in my career growth.” His most complex and rewarding project was at The Forum.
Jonathan Taube, Associate AIA, promoted to Senior Associate — Taube joined M&D in August 2016. He enjoys the fact that his work contributes to quality designs that support cultural, community, and public projects. His work on the Severn Intergenerational Center is a great example of the successful collaboration among community players in support of public art with the help of M&D’s award-winning designs. “The firm has given me an opportunity to grow into a multifaceted designer, capable of production, management, and client interfacing.”
