Murphy & Dittenhafer Architects received a record number of awards from The American Institute of Architects’ Pennsylvania and Baltimore chapters in 2020, capping off a year of tremendous recognition.
The firm, with offices in York, Pennsylvania, and Baltimore, Maryland, received 10 total AIA awards for its innovation, design, and contributions to the Architectural industry.
“We’re excited about the number of awards we received this year, but we see it as a testament to the firm’s consistent attention to Architectural Excellence on a wide array of projects,” says M&D’s President Frank E. Dittenhafer II, FAIA, LEED AP. “From renovations to new construction and un-built projects, with varying budgets and project sizes, I’m proud of this team’s work.”
For the fifth year in a row, M&D earned the Firm Fostering Emerging Professionals (EPiC) Award from AIA Pennsylvania, which celebrates firms that invest in the development of the next generation of Architects.
In addition, M&D’s President Frank E. Dittenhafer II, FAIA, LEED AP, was recognized with the Government Award from AIA Pennsylvania for his service on the Pennsylvania Capitol Preservation Committee which is responsible for overseeing the preservation and restoration of Architecture, Art and History within the PA State Capitol Complex a capacity he serves as a member at-large by appointment of Governor Tom Wolf.
Murphy & Dittenhafer Architects earned a Design Award from AIA Baltimore in recognition for its work at Hancock Community Library.
The firm also received seven design awards from AIA Central Pennsylvania, which included:
· a unique design for a small project titled Fashion Garage;
· the Northwest Triangle Innovation District;
· the 1741 Club at PeoplesBank Park for the York Revolution;
· the Graham Center for Innovation and Collaboration at Penn State York;
· the Hancock Community Library;
· the Shenandoah Downtown Center;
· and Washington County Senior Center.
This year’s awards, combined with previous years’ recognition, brings M&D’s total to nearly 120 AIA Design Awards and close to 230 awards for Preservation, Craftsmanship, and other accomplishments.
